On 7 July 2015, Ace Komeya, the Namibian Football Association (NFA) coach for women's and girls' football received a coaching certificate from the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the German Embassy Ullrich Kinne. He received the B-License of the German Football Association (DFB) after having successfully completed a three-week International Coaching Course organised by the DFB in Hennef, Germany, in September/October 2014.
Also present was Klaus Stärk, German long-term soccer expert seconded to the Namibian Football Association and at the same time Technical Director of the NFA.
The International Coaching Course in Hennef is part of a programme organised jointly by the DFB and the Federal Foreign Office. The training courses have proven to be effective in developing coaching skills. In the previous years, Jacky Shipanga, head coach of the National Women's team and Gerald Günther, "Eleven Arrows" coach from Swakopmund had taken part in the courses.
Ace Komeya was especially impressed by the excellent conditions under which football is played in Germany and the manifold football clubs. "In Namibia there are only a few clubs, and it would be nice if the successful club system could also be established in Namibia", said Tataati.

NGOs hand genocide petition to German president
July 7th, 2015 | by New Era Staff Reporter
The Namibian genocide was a campaign of racial extermination and collective punishment that the imperial German army undertook against the Ovaherero and Nama. It is considered to have been the first genocide of the 20th century and took place between 1904 and 1907 in the then South West Africa – modern-day Namibia.
The petition was received by Alexander Skiba in the office of the German president Gauck. It was signed by over 2 000 German nationals across the political and socio-economic, cultural and academic spectrum and calls upon the German government to, inter alia, recognise the genocide committed against the Ovaherero and Nama.
Yesterday's petition also urges the German government to officially offer an apology to the affected communities as well as the Namibian government. It further urges the German government to commit to and enter a dialogue with the representatives of the affected communities as well as the Namibian government. The petition further implores the German government to facilitate the immediate return of the remaining human skulls "currently in private possession in Germany" to Namibia.
German MPs urge Merkel to recognize Namibia genocide

This comes ahead of the 100th anniversary of the end of German rule there.
The opposition Greens and Left party have thrown their support behind a bid by human rights organizations to persuade Chancellor Angela Merkel's government to recognize the mass killings of people who belonged to Herero and Nama ethnic groups between in the early 1900s as genocide.
"Between 1904 and 1908 the German empire carried out the first genocide of the 20th century," Gysi told the DPA news agency. "The people of Namibia are still suffering from the after-effects up to this very day," he added.
"This chapter of Germany's colonial history must not be left untreated. As the legal successor, the Federal Republic holds the responsibility," Cem Özdemir co-chairperson of the Greens, told DPA.
Özdemir was speaking after the Greens on Wednesday brought a motion in the German parliament calling on the government to recognize the mass killings as an act of genocide. (...to continue reading click on Read More below)
